Lance Wiebe Receives Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) Designation
The Government of Ontario has made changes to the Estate Administration Tax Act, leaving executors (estate trustees) in a more perilous position. Certified Executor Advisors (CEAs) are accredited specialists advising Canadian executors about the potential pitfalls in settling an estate. Lance Wiebe is one of 300 Canadian CEAs available to help guide executors.
Lance Wiebe (CFP, BSc., CEA) is a Certified Financial Planner with Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network and Desjardins Financial Security Investments Inc. "My role is to listen and to fully understand my client's situation so I can provide them with the best advice." says Wiebe. Seeing increasing numbers of clients being asked to be the executor for aging parents and other relatives, Wiebe took the CEA certification course in 2014, completed his exam at the beginning of this year and received his CEA designation in February of 2015.
A CEA is accredited by the Canadian Institute of Certified Executor Advisors (CICEA). According to their website:
"A Certified Executor Advisor is many things: a coach, a confidante, a counsellor; a person having valuable practical knowledge in all of the disciplines required by an Executor, able to give guidance away from potential pitfalls and toward experts in the required field; a professional in their own right, in their own community and in their own discipline.
A CEA is an accredited specialist advising Canadian executors; using a team-oriented, network builder approach and first and foremost, a person who cares."
According to a BMO Financial Group survey, 40% of Canadians are counting on an inheritance to help fund their retirements. With the many changes being made in the Estate Administration Tax Act,it is increasingly important for executors to have a trusted advisor who can help save significant amounts of time, stress and money.
