Well, here we are again at Thanksgiving. I’ve been out of the country for a few weeks and had a chance to see how other people around the world live. After that experience, I’m even more grateful for everything we have here in Canada.
As we come up to a federal election, we are often reminded of how “terrible” things are under the previous government, or how “horrible” they’ll be with a new one. While there’s probably some truth in all of those claims, the underlying reality is that Canada is more than the sum of its government. It is the sum of its people. We’re all different but the vast majority share common values, wanting peace, freedom, a clean environment, a decent job, and a good place to raise our kids. How we get there is a matter of discussion, but it would be helpful to keep in mind just how similar we all are.
Gratitude is an attitude that needs to be cultivated and nurtured. I hope this Thanksgiving you are able to enjoy the bonds of family and/or the fellowship of friends. We live in a wonderful time and yet we all have challenges to overcome. I hope we can take some time this Thanksgiving to be grateful for what we have and think of ways to improve our individual and collective lives.
Thank you to all who have supported The Niagara Guide over the years. I look forward to being able to use this vehicle to serve the community for many more years.
Best Regards,
